The Park Inn Southampton
I just wanted to share the fact that there are still some great pubs that are not afraid to put on original music. I, along with my mate The Real Raj, received a great welcome from the staff and customers of The New Inn in Shirley Southampton.
We played a set each and I joined Raj on double bass for a few of his songs. I’m not saying that we were universally loved, Raj told me that a couple of punters had said that they wanted to hear something that they knew, but I had quite a few people come up to me afterwards to tell me how much they enjoyed it. Most of the people that approached me were what I call “proper music fans” meaning that they actively seek out music and make the effort to go out and support bands and artists. I met a couple at The Wickham Festival a few weeks earlier who told me that they make an effort to go to as many festivals as they can as they are passionate about finding new music. So deep is their passion that last week they liked my Facebook page and then purchased a copy of The Vinyl Project!!
A shame they don’t have regular music nights, this was a one off for a beer festival they were hosting, but here is hoping that there is a demand for more!
