Yes Iceland, not the frozen food chain but the actual country!
So why?
A few months ago Debs informed me that she had booked us a nice long weekend together. As I know she is a lover of the sun and heat I was a little surprised that she had chosen Iceland as our destination but there you have it.
I then got to thinking “I wonder if I could get a gig in Reykjavik?” So I go on to friend, long time contributor to my podcast, resident of Reykjavic and all round good guy Sigurdòr Guomundson, if he could suggest a few places that might be interested in giving me a slot. I emailed a few of the clubs on the list and was delighted when David from the famous Ob.La.Di. Ob.La.Da. in central Reykjavik emailed me back offering me the whole Saturday night!
So last week of we fly to sunny Reykjavik for a few days of sightseeing and a Saturday night of Icelandic nightlife including my gig.
Iceland is the most amazing place with brilliantly friendly people and some of the best sights in the world.
I also had the great for tune to meet JJ from local band (to be honest ALL the bands in Iceland are local) “Slim Jim and the Castaways” who as well as giving me a copy of his amazing album, also gave me an authentic Icelandic hair cut in his fascinating shop

We had a great time exploring the natural beauty of Iceland and the gig on Saturday was incredible with ann audience to die for. Fortunately, I didn’t .
Meeting up with “Siggi” Asa and Sice
We had a blast.
