Nick Tann is an award winning performer and singer songwriter based in Eastleigh Hampshire. In 2017 he teamed up with renowned double bass supremo Bastien Terraz. Together, they recorded “Authentic”, a collection of 6 original songs, some previously unheard. After around 10 months of touring around the country. Playing festivals and venues as well as a couple of bad ideas, they recruited drummer and percussionist Guy Siviour. Guy’s additional skills further bought Nick’s songs to the fore and enabled them to perform at larger events including the Wickham Festival, their biggest to date. Add to that a flurry of performances for Sofar Sounds in Southampton, Winchester, Brighton, Bournmouth and Nottingham and a handful of smaller festivals, there is now a forward momentum that is moving at a rate of knots. In early 2019 they added local legend and pedal steel guitarist Hag Stephenson to the band and the effect so far has been magical.
Their stage show has a confident and friendly swagger about it. Musical influences including Counting Crows, Bon Ivor and John Martyn are never far from the band’s acoustic footprint. Although performing with the full band is the norm, Nick still occasionally performs solo as well as with Guy or Bastian or Hag as separate entities.
With all their social media ducks in a row, support from BBC6 Music’s Tom Robinson“…. He’s (Nick Tann) just so good”, a new album in the offing, gig booking up to May 2019, Nick Tann’s music is evolving and engaging audiences all over this country and beyond. Nick has picked up fans from Denmark, Germany and Norway as a result of touring there as a bass player with acclaimed Celtic rockers Coast in 2012/13. His quietly popular indie music podcast “Is this thing on?” running since 2008 and available on Spotify and iTunes has Nick playing songs submitted by artists all over the world and has resulted in some great friendships and collaborations.
Nick is know as one of the hardest working musicians on the circuit. He makes all his own CD’s burning the discs, printing and sticking the labels on them and packaging them up. He books all his own gigs, writes all his own promo material. He even wrote this! Nick’s music is available to listen to on Itunes, Spotify and all other digital sites as well as on his own website www.nicktann.co.uk (he built that too!)
